These two manufacturers have both been producing high-quality hard disk storehouse since the late 1980's, and which one makes the best drive is a oftentimes argued and still unsettled question.

In the 1980's they Moved into hard disk drive controllers, and in 1988 acquired the capability to furnish the disk drives themselves from Tandon, a Pc hardware maker. In 1991, they introduced the Caviar line of hard disk drives, arguably the best-known disk brand in the world. The Raptor line of 10,000 rpm Sata drives was introduced in 2003, and swiftly became a hit with the high-performance gaming enthusiast.

Other Makers - The balance of the hard drive market contains well-known names such as Hitachi, Maxtor, Toshiba, Samsung, and Fujitsu. Each of these manufacturers provides a well-respected product, with Maxtor the only real competition in this group for the desk-top market. Makers Hitachi, Toshiba, Samsung and Fujitsu are more likely to be found in laptop computers, as they specialize in the smaller 2.5 inch and 1.8 inch form factors.

Given the high-tech manufacturing facilities that furnish these drives, and the thorough capability operate they employ, it's a safe bet that whichever drive maker you choose, you'll get a reliable, long-lasting storehouse solution.
