Western Digital 500 Gigabyte 'Passport' External Hard - Drive impart

I bought my Western Digital 500 gigabyte Passport in July of 2009 and I can really say it was one of the best investments I have ever made. Since I run an online company I do a lot of work from my home computer. However, I also need to work on a few distinct computers from time to time, so having a device that I can unplug and then plug right into other Usb port is ideal.

As of now, I do all of my work on my external hard-drive. This means that I save all of my work directly onto my Passport instead of first salvage it onto my laptop's hard drive. I do, however, use my laptop for backing up work (this is the opposite of how most citizen work, but I find it to be far more effective when switching computers a lot).

Western Hard Drive

Having a hard-drive with a large amount of disk space was crucial for me, as I have a lot of music (at least 80 gigabytes) so I needed somewhere that I could store it. Not only that, but I also needed to know that all of the music and files that I put on my Passport would be protected properly, and I wouldn't one day wake up to the horrifying fact that they'd all been deleted or come to be corrupted. This is an feel that I have already had once before, and is one that I hope to never have again for as long as I live. Thankfully, the Passport is an very trustworthy device, and one that I'd suggest to everyone.

Western Digital 1Tb External Hard Drive impart

Review

Being a photographer holding my images safe is my top priority but because I often shoot in a Raw format it means that my images take up a lot of space. My current computer law is probably colse to 5 years old so unfortunately I am stuck with a computer with a 125Gb hard disk drive. This hard drive would be more than ample for daily use but I often shoot colse to 8Gb of photos each and every shoot I do and when you take into list I shoot in the middle of 3-5 shows a week then my small hard disk becomes a problem.

For this calculate I had to get an external hard drive. I took a while to research some and came over a few that I liked. There were some hard drives that were legitimately thin and would be perfect on the Move as they were so small, however these hard drives had a small more memory than my current hard drive, these weren't going to last me long.

Western Hard Drive

The hard disk that I decided to go with was the western digital elements 1Tb drive. The calculate for my option was that the storage space was heavy and the hard drive was well priced. My initial buy was from eBay but the seeder sent me out a Spanish version for some reason, so I sent it back and purchased the drive from amazon where it was the same price.

The Review

The Western Digital elements hard disk is much smaller than I expected, it's practically the size of a small book and weighs colse to the same. One of the best features I found with this hard drive is the Noise of it, it makes next to none and I constantly check to see if its plugged in. The silent Noise levels is a great benefit of having this hard drive as I have tested some in the past that are highly noisy which becomes a big annoyance when you have to live with the thing.

The Power Led is placed at the back which is another perfect feature of this external drive. If you look colse to you chances are that there are flashing Lights where ever you look, when it comes to televisions or computers these Lights stay on even when you're not using the device, this becomes annoying when you are trying to do something else and not use your computer. The Led on the back of the external drive means that we constantly don't have a red blinking light in our face.

The drive connects to your computer via Usb 2.0, which gives you a constant high transfer speed. I often transfer large files to my hard drive and get a transfer speed in the middle of 30Mbps and 37Mbps which is highly fast for Usb 2.0.

The gismo is plug and play which means that you just join together the hard drive up to your computer and it's ready to go, there is no need for any software factory which I found very useful.

The Western Digital Elements hard disk is an perfect external hard drive and since writing this narrate I have purchased the 2Tb model which has allowed me to store even more of my images. If you're seeing for a hard disk drive which is reliable, affordable and easy to use while having tons of room for storage I highly recommend the western digital elements hard disk drive.

Western Digital Elements 1Tb impart

Review

When it comes to backup drives, I'm very black-and-white. Whether a drive is 100% reliable or is worthless -- that is to say, I would rather not have any backup than to have unreliable, undependable backup. After my own extensive research and due diligence about consumer-grade backup solutions, I decided to buy the Western Digital Elements 1Tb.

The Western Digital Elements 1Tb external hard drive is the no-frills, hassle-free external hard drive techies dream about. It has no fancy metal casing that's just going to add dollars to the price. Instead, what Western Digital offers is a minimalist, reliable device. The hard drive doesn't have any annoying pre-installed backup software that can't be turned off or uninstalled. Instead the plug-and-play ease allows you to start backing up your article in seconds after taking it out of the box.

Western Hard Drive

First, the drive is aesthetically pleasing. The case of this drive is sleek and small. The "activity" Light is very unintrusive yet easy enough to see. Secondly, this drive is very, very quiet. I've transferred thousands and thousands of files and hundreds of Gbs worth of data and I for real have to go duplicate check it's for real transferring the files because with normal room Noise, this drive is indiscernible.

If it is not related to a computer, or if the computer is off or in standby, the hard disk draws 0 watts. When the computer is on, but not accessing the disk, it draws 4 watts. When actively transferring files, it draws 6-7 watts. This explains why the case is all the time cool. It automatically spins down the hard disk when inactive for a time. This does cause a delay when you access it, but it is only a few seconds.

Here are some great features of the Western Digital Elements 1Tb:

* The drive is in a great size

* The drive is quiet. No Noise at all- no fans, no disk heads chattering, nothing.

* There are no fancy Lights. There is one tiny Led on the rear that you never see. No fancy Lights, flashing Leds, fancy bar charts, nothing

* It uses a mini Usb connector, but it is supplied with the drive

* No included software/firmware that you have to fight with to delete

* No problems attaching to computer or being recognized by Os

Western Digital Elements 1Tb is a must have for backing up your files, easy to set up, and even easier to use! highly recommended and you can save yourself some money and get it on Amazon at a price less than (40% discount) with the free shipping.
